New Apartment Unveiling: Bedroom

Welcome back to my apartment, friends!

Today we're doing a quick little walkthrough of the bedroom.  Wait, you're asking, didn't you say you live in a studio?  Yes, I most certainly do.  Remember when I asked you to weigh in on how to arrange the place?  Well I've set up the floorplan like so:

This means that there is definitely a bedroom side and a living room side.  So like I said, today we're taking a look at the bedroom.  Click the link below to read more and let me know what you think!

The most important part of any bedroom is... the bed.  Duh.  I love my bed.  Part of why I was ok moving into a studio is that I spent most of my time at my old place laying on my bed anyway.  I was basically wasting my living room and second bedroom!

I love everything about my bed.  (Clearly Lady Bug doesn't mind it either!  That is her spot.  I am required to move around her.)

I love having a million pillows - in fact, I'm on the market for a few more - and especially love the knit one that my grandmother made.  My duvet color is such an excellent color and was an awesome find at Target a few years ago.  Also, have I mentioned how much I love my lamps?!  Check out this post to see how I made them if you like them as much as I do!

The only thing left to figure out in the bedroom area is a shelf of some sort next to the bed. I need some very slim but think enough to hold whatever book I'm currently reading, a glass of wine, and my cell phone as it charges.

The bedroom houses my antique dresser.  In this picture you also get a peak at the purple curtains I purchased from Kmart - four panels, two sewed together for each side of the sliding door for an unbelievably good price of $30 total!

The whole "unique" jewelry storage idea is huge on the internet right now.  I like that it's caught on but it makes mine look much more unoriginal when really, I've been doing it for years.  You can see the watermarks on the mirror from how many times I've scolded the cats for playing with the jewelry in the middle of the night - whoops!  Should have cleaned that before taking pictures!

The bedroom also houses my collection of tiny little boxes.  No idea why I started collecting them, or why I continue, but that's not the point.  They make a perfect focal point on an otherwise boring wall.

These shelves were used in the bedroom and bathroom at the last place but - surprise - they were white and black before.  Using $1 contact paper I found at a dollar store in town, it was easy to make them all match, cover up the scratches from their old uses, and hang them up to display my trinkets!

What do you think?  Stay tuned next week for the living room walkthrough!

  1. Your pictures make the space look so spacious that I would never have guessed that it's a studio. I love the color of your bedding, and the bed definitely looks nice and comfy...I can see why it's Lady Bug's favorite spot (and your's).

  2. oh I like the little box collection. My mum used to do that too - I remember sitting on her bed tons of times as a little kid opening every box and checking inside for tiny treasures (every once in a while she'd hide a quarter or a piece of candy in one)
