Summer Bucket List

Ah!  Am I the only one freaked out that summer is already half over?  I don't, of course, mean the literal season of summer, but rather the June - August summer that we (sorta) get in education.

In order to actually enjoy my summer, now that it's flying by, I've made a list of the top 7 things I really need to do between now and Labor Day.  I considered doing a top 10 list but it is summer after all and I didn't want to stress myself out trying to add in fun things to the craziness - that would completely defeat the purpose.  One a week suffices.

1. Lexington Legends Baseball   2. Kentucky Fried Chicken   3. Amazon   4. My sad little tomato plant

Complete description of my summer bucket list after the jump!

1.  Go to a baseball game.  We don't have a professional team here, but I would love to make it to a minor league game before summer is over.  Nothing says summer like beer, hot dogs, and baseball.

2.  Go on a picnic.  It's been far too long since I did this.  Except that usually my version of a picnic includes cold Kentucky Fried Chicken and too much wine (not that I'm complaining!)

3.  Spend an entire day reading at least one beach read.  I haven't been doing as much reading as I normally like so this is a must for me in the near future.  I've had this book on my list for a while, thanks to a recommendation from a friend and (woo hoo) it's free right now so this will probably be my selection!

4.  Replant my garden.  The move, coupled with the extended travel, combined with the heat turned my tomato plants into a sad, brown mess.  I need to tear those out and get some things replanted because I thoroughly enjoy having something to tinker with.

5.  Eat corn on the cob from the farmer's market.

6.  Buy myself a big floppy hat.  I've been wanting one forever but I have a very small head and hats look ridiculous on me.  I want one anyway so I'm making this my summer for a floppy hat.

7.  Invite my girl friends over to the new place for strawberry-banana coladas and ruby relaxers... and then share the recipes with you all!  In the meantime, here's a link to the pretty fruity drink pictured above... Haven't tried it yet, but I'm adding it to the list of "must haves."

Anything I missed?

  2. I'm still in denial that I no longer really have a defined summer other than the season. I like your summer bucket list. It's a good one.

  3. I LOVE number 7. Drinks and besties are always a perfect combination. :)
